"I'll be your rebound." Normally, such sentiments in songs make me scoff since are usually sung by hunks (yeah right, you heartbreaker), but in the case of Yan Jue, he really embodies the beta male image, so soft-spoken and well-mannered is he. Heck, if a hottie like Wilson Chen can convince me it took him a decade to get the girl, ANYTHING GOES.

I know what y'all are thinking: Chloeee, how can you not have THE *nudge nudge wink wink* SCENE, the kiss(es) of dreams, the 10 over 10 kiss as the main picture to grace this post? Blasphemy! 

Oho! Before you task me to sit in a corner, hear this humble viewer out. We all saw that kiss coming, BUT I betcha no one saw the tsukommi potential in our hero. This breakthrough scene, henceforth called "How To Get Your Pesky Matchmaker of A Grandmother Die Of Heart Attack 101" is when Shi De gets back from the Phillipines; Mom and Grandma is still picking out blind date candidates for him. This gesture is of course denied by Shi De, for he is now a married man. Says Shi De of the straight face: 

"I'll introduce [my wife] to you when I find her." *flashes ring* 

And with that, he heads up to his room, leaving the womenfolk dumbfounded (just a second though) and then abuzz with speculation. I DIE. Never mind the sudden marriage, it's as if losing A HUMAN BEING is an everyday occurrence to this man.

Love, Now: Episode 2

Alas, not wedded yet. This episode is The Date, and one wonders how Shi De can be such a smooth operator when all things considered, he's not the romancin' type. WHERE do you get all your lines, boy?

I also love how Yi Ru seems to be immune to his looks, judging him by his actions instead. Instead of this show being caricaturish with the heroine being swept off her feet, time and time again she asks him, are you sure? and brings up a very valid point: "Marrying a dying woman... is it worth it?"

Love, Now: Episode 1

If the pilot is anything to go by, we are in deep trouble. Another one to add to our long list of shows to watch, people. Abscenes, no *cough* I meant ABSENCE of second-hand embarrassment is always something I'm grateful for, especially when it comes to twdramas. The dialogue feels natural, no yelling OTPs (yet), another plus. 

My only complain is the BG music (yes, again), and at this point I guess I have to hand in the towel and accept this as part and parcel of a twdrama. Do Taiwanese dig those sounds that much, I wonder. Maybe if I search Baidu hard enough, there'd be a study that reveals "Chinese people: Prone to fall asleep when watching romcoms without wonky noises in the background." Or something.

More often than not, when I like a show the love extends to its OST as well. I wonder if it's just a coincidence? No exceptions this time, listening to OST Prince Yen-j always manages to evoke feelings of melancholy in one. It's so, so bittersweet.
